    How a long shot won the bidding for The Inquirer - Philadelphia Inquirer
    Brun helped pitch one of his clients, the Carpenters' pension plan, which is controlled jointly by the Carpenters' union and big building contractors. Union president Edward Coryell was a former Tierney public relations client. Coryell declined to say how much the Carpenters are putting in the investors' group; other members say the pension plan is the largest equity investor.
