Why Aren’t Unions Reaching Out To HS & College Grads? - LaborTalk By Harry Kelber
Hundreds of thousands of high school and college students will be graduating this May and June, and they’ll be going out into the world of work. Isn’t it a great time to tell them how unions can help them?
But neither the AFL-CIO nor the Change to Win unions have given any thought to reaching out to high school and college seniors and graduates to educate them on the value of belonging to a union.
To fill an important gap in labor education, I published ‘BELONG and Be STRONG: The Union Story for Students,’ a 24-page pamphlet, whose cover page is designed as a student notebook. We received sizeable orders, not only from unions, but from guidance counselors and social studies teachers in high schools.------------------------------------------- posted 7:00 AM :: reference link ::
