    New York gov expands benefits for dead, sick ground zero workers - By KAREN MATTHEWS/AP, Newsday.com
    NEW YORK -- The families of first responders killed in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001, began receiving death benefits long ago. Following the signing of new legislation at ground zero, the loved ones of those who fell sick and died after toiling at the ruins will receive the same recognition.
