Big fine follows worksite fatality - By TONY BLAIS, Edmonton Sun, Canada
According to agreed facts, the victim was cutting aluminum soffits to be installed on the ceiling of a fourth-floor balcony at a 120-unit condo complex under construction near 112 Street and 153 Avenue on March 27, 2003.
Eisenkrein, who was blind in one eye, was passing pieces of soffit to a co-worker from the balcony when he fell down about 10 metres and landed on a concrete pad.
He died later that day from head and chest injuries.
There was no guardrail on the balcony and Eisenkrein was not wearing any form of fall protection, which is required by law when people are working at a height of more than 3.5 metres.------------------------------------------- posted 5:42 AM :: reference link ::
