Managers and business owners must also acknowledge that today's workers are a highly varied lot. Recent surveys indicate some are focused on the bottom line and on getting as much money as possible, even to the point of giving up vacation time owed them.
But others, particularly the young and well educated, have seen the deleterious effects of overwork on others and are determined to find jobs that are challenging and -- dare we say it? -- fun and interesting.
