When there are other reasons for calling in 'sick' - By Matt Carroll, The Boston Globe
Some towns have adopted innovative programs. In Dedham , for instance, union workers and town officials negotiated a new contract for the Department of Public Works designed to curb abuse of sick time. The program wraps all sick and vacation days into one package and allows employees to use the time any way they want.
