Canada should condemn anti-worker report by World Bank - National Union of Public and General Employees
Countries with no minimum wage laws, and no restriction on the number of hours that employees can be induced to work, are ranked highly,' Brown notes.
'This blessing by the World Bank amounts to a reward for countries that do not honour basic ILO standards and it encourages other countries not to adopt minimum wage laws, hours of work standards and other measures to ensure freedom of association and collective bargaining.'
Brown says the Canadian government should protest the report in the same way that senior U.S. lawmakers have done. 'A number of powerful U.S. senators have spoken out in protest. Canada should do the same,' he adds.------------------------------------------- posted 8:53 AM :: reference link ::
