Union endorses Schwarzenegger for governor - By Philip J. LaVelle, SignOnSanDiego.com
“The carpenters union has shown no courage with this endorsement,” said Robert L. Balgenorth, president of the Building and Construction Trades Council of California.

Union carpenters in Northern California back Angelides, the state treasurer.

Angelides was unavailable for comment. Campaign spokesman Brian Brokaw said: “It's no surprise that one local union with close ties to George W. Bush would support Bush's candidate for governor.”

The Southwest Carpenters have 60,000 members in Southern California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. The leader of its national – the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners – is a strong Bush supporter.
