Toyota Rolls Out New Tundra To Texas-size Welcome - By Joe Guy Collier, Detroit Press
Toyota already has gone to great lengths to ingratiate itself to Texas, the biggest state for truck sales. The Japanese automaker has spent $1.28 billion on the San Antonio operation. It employs 1,800 workers at the plant with plans to increase that number to 2,000 by next year. Production workers start at $16 to $18 an hour.
Another 2,000 workers are employed by the 21 on-site suppliers, several of which have been created as joint ventures between established suppliers and local businesses getting their first shot at the auto industry.------------------------------------------- posted 7:24 AM :: reference link ::
