CitySquare unfair, open-shop workers claim - By Shaun Sutner, Worcester Telegram, MA
Union leaders disputed Mr. Cogliano’s contention that using organized labor drives up costs, saying union members work more efficiently and productively.
Bert Durand, a spokesman for the New England Regional Council of Carpenters, also questioned why open-shop advocates are complaining about a project that is not even locked into a union-only agreement.
“There is a level of professionalism by union contractors and union carpenters that is unsurpassed in the construction industry,” Mr. Durand said. “There is nobody who builds a higher-quality project.”
The nonunion group, however, is convinced that their members are being muscled out of the potentially lucrative CitySquare work.------------------------------------------- posted 7:16 AM :: reference link ::
