Researchers Cite Progress in Reducing Nail-Gun Injuries - Safety.BLR.com
Lipscomb's research shows a steady increase in injury rates from nail guns, as many as 35,000 visits each year to U.S. emergency departments. Most injuries, she says, involve puncture wounds or imbedded nails in the hand or fingers. Carpenters with more training were better equipped to handle the tool and less prone to injury, said Lipscomb, adding: 'Unfortunately, most residential carpenters, including immigrant workers, are less likely to get training compared to the union workers we studied.'
