Ceremony will commemorate those who died at their jobs "If you go back to the turn of the 20th century, it was shocking," said Ed Selker, director of OSHA's Pittsburgh office. "Workers were disposable commodities."
In 1906, for instance, there were 526 worker fatalities in Allegheny County. Today, OSHA's regional office counts about 20 deaths per year.
