Toronto Star - 'Who will take care of our children?': 'Between 35,000 and 45,000 housing units are annually built in the GTA,' says Carlos Pimentel, a spokesperson for the Central Ontario Regional Council of Carpenters, Drywall and Allied Workers. 'If you were to take out the estimated number of potentially undocumented workers in the construction market, I think it would be difficult to meet that demand.'
Hard labour jobs are hard to fill, says Pimentel. Canadians are 'more interested in going into the high-tech, white-collared jobs.'
