    Workday Minnesota: Workers gather for annual Minnesota AFL-CIO convention MINNEAPOLIS — The 46th annual Minnesota AFL-CIO convention convenes at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Minneapolis Hilton Hotel. About 800 union members from across the state are expected to participate.

    Linda Chavez-Thompson, executive vice president of the AFL-CIO, and John Wilhelm, president of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees International Union, will be among the featured speakers. Wilhelm is heading up the labor movement's efforts in support of immigrant workers' rights, including the upcoming Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride.
