B.C. could cut separate softwood deal with U.S.: forests minister By STEVE MERTL, CP
A North American Free Trade Agreement dispute panel is expected to rule around April 30 on whether Canadian lumber exports present the threat of injury to American softwood producers.
The panel last fall found U.S. evidence fell short on the threat of injury and ordered American trade officials to review their calculations. Canadian observers hope a second rejection would gut the U.S. complaint and, barring a year or so of appeals, end the case.------------------------------------------- posted 9:23 AM :: reference link ::
