City waited one week to say “no” to CUPE offers to end lockout CUPE BC
NELSON – High hopes for an imminent end to the lockout of city workers were dashed after the city of Nelson announced today that mayor and council were unwilling to consider further negotiations. The news came almost one week after the city said they needed to seek a mandate from council to negotiate further with CUPE 339.
“If Mayor and Council were serious about ending the lockout and restoring city services they would have called an emergency meeting last week, not waited until Monday to reject our offers,” says Bev Lapointe, CUPE 339 President. “What do they think this is, play city?”------------------------------------------- posted 6:26 AM :: reference link ::
