Demand is rising for custom stairs By LULADEY B. TADESSE, The News Journal, DE
'It has always been a specialty, for hundreds of years,' said David Cooper, a board member of Stairway Manufacturers' Association in Westminster, Mass. 'It takes a long time for somebody to learn the trade specially when you get into curved stairs.'
Architects and builders consider staircases one of the most complicated parts of a house to construct. Carpenters must not only think like an artisan, but also an engineer and architect.
