Democrats rally against presidential campaign By Robert Warner, Battle Creek Enquirer, MI
But the tension was defused by the hijinks of the 'Billionaires for Bush' troupe that staked out the corner where Cheney would turn to go to the high school.

'Keep up the good work!' said one of the overdressed troupe of Democrats, in tails, top hats and ascots. 'They're getting really good at hiding the strings.' Translation: 'You're a puppet of the Bush campaign.'

Among the anti-Bush 'billionaires' was Shilpa Narayan of New York City, who said she's been traveling nationwide in character as 'Uma Blings Blazin' on the group's 'Get on the Limo Tour.'

'We use satire and irony as our medium,' said Narayan, wearing an evening gown but without her tiara in the rain.

Soon after Cheney's plane landed at nearby W.K. Kellogg Airport, police blocked traffic and moved into position to control the crowd as the motorcade passed.

On a bullhorn, an organizer exhorted the crowd to 'spread out, shoulder-to-shoulder' and not to block the giant inflatable rat holding an anti-Cheney sign.
