Construction site protest is rat-on BY NICHOLAS LOVECCHIO, New York Daily News
Rats have come to downtown Brooklyn.
Relax. We aren't talking about the real ones.
The overgrown blownup rat is a familiar sight at nonunion construction sites in Manhattan, but the recent surge of projects in downtown Brooklyn has brought the plastic pests across the bridge.
A monster-size rat now perches daily next to an apartment construction site on Court and State Sts., in a protest by Local Union 1 bricklayers over wages and nonunion workers.
'That rat is there for the contractor,' said Patrick Mazzei, a union organizer. 'The worker's not a rat - he's a victim, and we're here to help him.'------------------------------------------- posted 6:57 AM :: reference link ::
