'Drastic changes' urged for workers' comp AP, Houston Chronicle, TX
The recommendations include ensuring injured workers have a 'broad choice' of doctors to choose from.
Business groups, labor unions and the Texas Medical Association said they were optimistic about the proposal.
A recent TMA survey found that only 23 percent of doctors were willing to take on new workers' comp cases under the current system.
'They've tried to refocus the system on the injured worker,' said Richard Levy, legal director for the Texas AFL-CIO. 'That's fundamentally the most important thing that has happened.'
Levy said the union will insist that workers have a strong advocate within any new system.------------------------------------------- posted 6:41 AM :: reference link ::
