Glorious, Furious, Laborious by Carole Bass, New Haven Advocate, CT
A book about labor movements in New Haven arrives, just as a new chapter in strained labor relations is being written at the Register.

Which of the following actually happened?

    A. Amid a national depression, a Yale Law School dean derided a visiting 'army' of unemployed men as 'soap-fearing, vermin-haunted tramps.'

    B. Amid another national depression, a Yale Divinity School professor called on the university to treat dining hall workers better.

    C. Yale did not renew the contract of the aforementioned divinity professor.

    D. Yale retirees occupied an administration office, demanding to plump up their pathetic pensions. The five--mostly in their 70s--spent the night on a conference room floor.

Answer: All of the above, of course. The first episode took place in 1894. The last happened a year ago.
