This succah has that union label Cleveland Jewish News, OH
'Originally, we thought the JLC would pay for it, but the carpenters union insisted they pay for materials and labor,' says Wallenstein, who owns a plumbing business. The Carpenter's Local 25 built the succah from a blueprint at their training facility in Richfield and delivered it to the apartment complex.
The residents were overjoyed to finally have a succah. 'One woman was in tears because she hadn't been in a succah since being in Russia,' says Wieder. And since Chanukah doesn't come for another couple months, the JCF's Baker deemed it 'the miracle of Succot.'
The JLC's Wallenstein had nothing but praise for the efficiency and selflessness involved in the succah's creation. 'It's great to see the unions giving back to community,' he says. 'And I'm saying that as management!'

blog note: There are a few building requirements for a proper succah. It must have four walls and three sides. The structure must be covered with foliage, provide more shade than sun and be stargazer-friendly.
