Hite Expected To Succeed Maddaloni as Plumbers’ President By Sherie Winston, ENR Construction
The change in leadership comes after a rocky year for the 326,000-member union and its pension funds. The Dept. of Labor, concerned about fund investments in the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Fla., filed a civil action alleging breach of fiduciary duties when the cost of the project soared to $800 million from the original $400 million budget. Maddaloni and Patchell paid an $11-million fine as part of a settlement with the government in August.
