BC Carpenters Union Winning Battle for Canadian Autonomy UFCW.net - MfD OpenForum
MagQua! Good on them! McCarron is well known for making great speeches about solidarity, organizing and workers' freedom, and doing exactly the opposite--like dipping into the union's pension fund.
He was the first US labour leader to sign on to the Bush Administration's NAFTA sanction against Canadian softwood lumber goods, even though thousands of Canadian Carpenters Union members work in that industry.
Also, while many US unions were risking government sanction by taking a principled stand opposing the government's violent foreign policy, McCarron was riding on Air Force One partying with the Shrub.
McCarron has tried to impose a trusteeship on the BC union three times in the last seven years. Each time it has failed due to either lack of any evidence to back any charges or for violating the union's own constitutional procedures.
Interesting to note, that McCarron and his local supporters have set up a group called the Construction, Floorlayers and Allied Workers (CFAW--similar to CMAW) and trying to confuse union members on the job to sign the wrong card.
