Local contractor barred from working in N.H. By GEOFF CUNNINGHAM Jr., Laconia Citizen, NH
A local building contractor who is already banned from performing work in Maine due to questionable business practices has now been barred from operating in New Hampshire under a settlement reached with the state.
A lawsuit filed against Alfred Verdone by the state Attorney General’s Office accused his AA Builders of Laconia of violating the Consumer Protection Act by taking deposits from consumers for home contracting services and either not performing them at all or doing "shoddy" work.

Nothing beats personal recommendation, but if you have to pick a builder from the Yellow Pages, start at the end of the listings. Dodgy builders are notorious for using names like A1 in order to be the first listing in the telephone directory.
