OSHA: Rig deaths of ‘grave concern’ By Julie Breaux, Odessa American, TX
Bell said he “would be looking real hard” at a company that reported two fatalities in three months. But he cited two extenuating circumstances that affect all drilling companies: a lack of qualified, employable hands and an inexperienced labor force.
“New hires probably get hurt more than anybody else in whatever phase” of production, he said.
And Bell believes the serious shortage of qualified oil field workers takes its toll on the current workforce.
“We’re working our hands to fatigue,” Bell said. “We are desperately needing more people.”------------------------------------------- posted 1:08 PM :: reference link ::
