Workers strike at Six Flags By KEN ROSS, The Republican, MA
The 12 workers are mechanics and communications employees at the amusement park, according to Jason Garand, business representative and organizer of the Springfield office for the New England Regional Council of Carpenters, the union that the striking workers want to join.
The striking workers are upset about being required to use their own vehicles for work, having their schedule changed without notice and getting less time off, mechanic Robert Farris said.
Instead of two days off, the workers now have 1 1/2 days. And instead of working 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m., the park recently changed the mechanics' schedule to 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Farris said.
"They keep changing things on us," Farris added. "We're not kids. We like to be asked."
