Unions should nurture employers - By Jack Markowitz, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
It's true that the most idiotic thing managements can do -- and they do it all the time -- is vote themselves pay, perks and parachutes out of all proportion to their worth. This poisons the morale of rank-and-file workers whose loyalty they need. And yet worker organizations ought to help companies compete better whether they love them or not. This is self-interest and the national interest. Nobody can run away from the new realities of made-in-China and telephoned-from-India.
