Union rips Livingston St. developer - New York Daily News
'Local 79 put the rat there to call attention to unacceptable circumstances at the job site,' said Richard Weiss, communications director for the union.
'Because it's 110 Livingston, with its history of nightmare Board of Ed bureaucracy, we're getting people's attention,' Weiss said. 'But really it's about bad people who shouldn't be doing work in this city.'
Workers at the site are nonunion - a charge Walentas has faced before at other downtown Brooklyn construction projects.
The union also has charged that workers have been paid off the books at the Livingston St. site. Asbestos was found during demolition work last month and two 'union spies' were beaten up.------------------------------------------- posted 5:03 AM :: reference link ::
