    Job boom missing minorities - Kansas City Star
    In the past, Kansas City has concentrated on making sure minority- and women-owned firms got a piece of the action but neglected systematic work force monitoring. This year, though, a group called Friends of the Greater Kansas City Coalition of Black Construction and Skilled Trades Workers started pressing for more jobs for minority construction workers, many of whom had let their union memberships lapse.
