Katrina Manpower Needs - UBC Yes message board

There is a need for qualified UBC members -- Carpenters, Millwrights, Welders and Pile Drivers of all classifications -- that are willing to work in and around the New Orleans area.

Interested members may contact the Louisiana Carpenters Regional Council personnel at the numbers listed below for details on available jobs.
The average Union/UBC carpenters wage scale in the Gulf States is $18 +/- per hour; millwrights average $20 +/-.
One is looking at staying 60-70 miles from New Orleans, where the lack of housing is still an extreme problem, consider taking a tent or camper.
The New Orleans Carpenter Hall, UBC 1846, is temporarily located with Baton Rouge's UBC 1098. UBC Carpenters interested in securing work in the N.O. area should contact:
    Jim Lewis
    office: 225-356-2468
    cell: 504-234-5617
    Edgar Folgar (Bilingual)
    office: 225-356-2468

    Roy Guidry
    office: 225-356-2468
    cell: 337-319-5499

The New Orleans Millwright Hall, UBC 1931, is temporarily located with Baton Rouge's UBC 720. UBC Millwrights interested in securing work in the N.O. area should contact:
