Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! - Workplaces suggests five ways to create jobs, prosperity and hope. - by Mike Martin, Straight Goods, Canada
3. Create Apprenticeship Partnerships
You can't get a job without experience and you can't get experience without a job. It's surely time to break that cycle and free up young people and older displaced workers for opportunities in this new economy. One way to do that is through training and formal apprenticeship. It's worked forever for engineers and carpenters so why not try it out for everybody?
We now have councils for all sectors of the economy. They should be charged with establishing and maintaining apprenticeship programs in partnership with government, business and labour. These partnerships can be supported by the surplus in the Employment Insurance Program that can finally be harnessed to actually help working people and employers who paid for it in the first place.------------------------------------------- posted 5:28 AM :: reference link ::
