RCMP identify four people killed in accident at decommissioned B.C. mine - By GREG JOYCE, Macleans.ca
The culprit in the tragedy, it appeared Thursday, may have been a lack of oxygen.
'It's kind of ironic that the mine has been closed for four and a half years,' Mayor Jim Ogilvie observed as he stood in the Bavarian-theme Platzl in the town's downtown and conducted his umpteenth interview.
'At one point we had more than 2,500 people employed there and we never had an accident of this magnitude.'
A day after a bizarre tragedy in which one person seemed to have been overcome by fumes or a lack of oxygen, and three others - including two paramedics - who responded fell to the same fate, there were more questions than answers.------------------------------------------- posted 7:57 AM :: reference link ::
