Concrete company accused of violating labor laws - South Florida Business Journal
Union officials said their job is to protect workers' rights and help local people benefit from job opportunities at a public-funded project, Garcia said.
"We are bothered by the fact that Capform brings workers from Texas," he said. "They are violating the Davis Bacon Act."
The act protects local wage standards and gives local workers and contractors a fair opportunity to participate in projects funded with federal money, Garcia said.
Capform, which operates only in right-to-work states, brought some workers from Texas to help jump-start the Espirito Santo project more than a year ago, Renaud said. The building is scheduled to open in December.------------------------------------------- posted 6:55 PM :: reference link ::
