No lovefest for Sweeney in D.C. - By Wendy Ruderman, Philadelphia Inquirer
The outcome of the meeting is in dispute. Sen. Sweeney said he told the labor leaders he would consider whether to withdraw any of his legislation, but has yet to do so.
Cohen, of the CWA, remembers it differently: 'If Sen. Sweeney is now saying that he made no commitments to withdraw any legislation, that would not be accurate.'
Both sides agreed to darken their dueling Web sites, with Sen. Sweeney pulling the plug on www.StopSpendingMyMoney.com and CWA members shuttering www.stopstevesweeney.com.
'It was a truce, but it was not a truce,' Sen. Sweeney said. 'I'm on the same team. It's just that there was a disagreement, and there is still a disagreement.'
In a crucial election year, labor can ill afford infighting, especially not after last year's seismic fight that led six national unions to defect from the AFL-CIO and form a labor organization called Change to Win.------------------------------------------- posted 8:35 AM :: reference link ::
