Tools for Career Building - By Evelyn Lee, Business New Jersey
The South Jersey Regional Council of Carpenters Local 263 in Atlantic City and the Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT) have teamed up to help students at the Atlantic County Vocational Technical School become union carpenters.
The program will be funded by a Youth to Transitions to Work (YTTW) Grant that ACIT received from the state Department of Labor.
"This is a win-win situation for our union and the graduates," says Robert Boyce, president of the Southern District New Jersey Regional Council of Carpenters in Edison. "The students enjoy a seamless transition into a training and work program that pays them $14 an hour to start."------------------------------------------- posted 6:15 AM :: reference link ::
