Sweep uncovers building site violations - BY BRIAN KATES, New York Daily News
Last July, amid reports of pedestrians being showered with wood, bolts, glass and other construction debris, Lancaster admitted to the Daily News Editorial Board that she was afraid to walk under sidewalk sheds.
The crackdown also included inspections of supported scaffolds, the system of pipes, wood and safety netting generally erected along a building's exterior. Violations were slapped on 146 supported scaffolds.
Most of the problem sites were in Manhattan, where 272 sites failed inspection and 120 stop-work orders were issued------------------------------------------- posted 6:26 AM :: reference link ::
