Wood splitting By JEFF HODSON, Kamloops This Week, Canada
A glut of burned timber and bug wood has resulted in a super-saturated log market.
Salvage logging of timberlands burned in last year's wildfires, or killed by the mountain pine beetle epidemic, means there are too many logs on the market and not enough buyers.
It means people with timber to sell are looking beyond the logjam - south of the border and overseas.
"Basically, with the burned wood and the beetle-kill, it's more than we can handle," said Sarah Goodman, a representative for Weyerhaeuser.------------------------------------------- posted 8:48 AM :: reference link ::
