Worker shortage ‘ongoing headache’ The Ashburton Guardian, New Zealand
Rakaia MP Brian Connell said reforms to the apprenticeship system in the 1990s were adding exacerbating the situation.
“I’ve maintained for a long time that the reason we don’t grow our economy more quickly is the shortage of skilled labour. The quicker we get back to things like apprenticeships, the better,” said Mr Connell.
