B.C. lumber lobby says WTO ruling on Byrd Amendment helps softwood fight CP Business News
A World Trade Organization ruling gives Canada needed clout to recover more than $3 billion in duties destined for U.S. lumber producers, a Canadian lumber lobby says.
The WTO ruled earlier this week several countries, including Canada, had the right to impose trade sanctions on the United States for refusing to repeal the so-called Byrd Amendment. The legislation allows the U.S. government to funnel anti-dumping duties to companies deemed to have suffered injury from underpriced imports.
The European Union, Japan, Brazil, Chile, India, South Korea and Mexico were the other complainants in the case.------------------------------------------- posted 5:53 AM :: reference link ::
