Eye in the sky - Security cameras witness thefts on job sites By MIKE CRUZ, Desert Dispatch, CA
Build it and they will come -- to rip it off.

Building growth in the Victor Valley has drawn an increasing number of thieves who steal from construction sites, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies say.

Name it and they'll take it. From a few expensive, easy-to-lift tools to heavy equipment such as tractors and skip loaders; if it can be moved, it's been taken.

The majority of construction-related thefts? Costly building materials and appliances.

Plywood is the most common material stolen, but thieves will also take copper piping, flooring, rebar, appliances, doors and windows, and two-by-fours -- just about anything they can get their hands on, according to local deputies and contractors.
