3rd worker in fuel blast dies / Rescuers face perilous search for 2 workers missing, feared dead inside water pipe By Demian Bulwa and Henry K. Lee, San Francisco Chronicle
Fire officials said the search for the missing welders would be a methodical operation under strict supervision from state safety regulators.
Teams of two rescuers wearing oxygen masks and fire suits are expected to drop into the water pipe through the same access hole that the welders used. They will then hunt for the welders in both directions as their effort is timed and the air inside is continuously sampled to make sure it is not explosive.
