Trade unions: fighting for the rights of workers - Text by Anni Haataja, SixDegrees, Finland
There are 75 trade unions in Finland and three central trade unions organisations for employees: SAK (Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions), STTK (Finnish Confederation of Salaried Employees) and AKAVA (Confederation of Unions for Academic Professionals in Finland)
The amount of membership has been decreasing in the last few years.
85% of working Finns aged over-35 are union members and 40% of under-25s hold a membership card.
Around 50% of part-time workers belong to a trade union, while 20% of working women and 13% of men are in part-time employment.------------------------------------------- posted 8:00 AM :: reference link ::
