Women excel in non-traditional jobs - By Kate Wright, Canada East
In many countries of the world, women have chosen non-traditional skilled trades as careers and are recognized as valuable contributors to their society.

In Canada, women are just starting to work in these skilled trades and are excelling. Each year, more women see the value of working in the trades and are jumping on this hot job.

Given the projected demand for skilled workers, the increased participation of women in trades, technology and operations occupations would not only benefit women, but would also help industry meet increasing demands for new and skilled workers.

Because of numbers alone, the female labour pool represents Canada's most significant resource for meeting the growing skills shortage in these occupations.
