    Unions ready for planned mega projects - By Chris Coates, St. Louis Post-Dispatch
    A series of proposed large-scale construction projects in the region has caused an uptick in enrollment among pipe fitters -- a trend other construction trades hope they'll soon experience despite threats of a recession.

    'The work is coming in,' said Bill Adrian, business manager for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 10, which covers St. Clair County and four other counties. 'There (are) so many potential jobs in Southern Illinois.'
